Our services include:
Initial interview:
A meeting that will give you more information about doula care and services.
This is an opportunity for you to determine if we are a good match and if we
will make good members of your team. We can also provide community resources
and names of other doulas if you request.
Prenatal visit One:
At this first visit it is important to meet with you and your partner or
support person to become acquainted. We will explore and discuss your
priorities for your birth, your Birth plan and address any fears and concerns
you might have. We like to give lots of information and handouts at every
consultation. We also have a fairly large book and video library for our clients
and students to use. We are also available by phone any time you have a
question or need to speak to your doula. We feel that this is an important part
of developing our relationship.
Prenatal visit Two:
At this meeting, we will discuss any questions you may have and see how your
birth plan/wish list is coming. We will bring any articles of interest that you
may have requested. During this visit we go over your desires/fears/dreams
surrounding your birth. This is an opportunity for us to learn about you and
how we might help you achieve your goals. We will go through a list of
possibilities, outcomes, and interventions as well address any questions you
might like to discuss with your care-provider.
Prenatal visit Three:
During this meeting we like to go over the logistics of either getting to
the hospital or setting up your home for the birth. Discuss if you would like
to have photos taken of your birth as this is something both of us have done
much of for many other birthing couples. During this visit we discuss postpartum health
and infant care. We will review breastfeeding basics and give you practical
advice for the early weeks of your baby.s life.
Labour, Birth and up to two hours postpartum:
Phone contact will begin when you go into labour and your doula will come to
you as soon as you need us.Thsi is usually once mom
is in active labour. Your doula
can either meet you at your home, stay with you there for as long as you are
comfortable, and then accompany you to the hospital,or meet you directly at the hospital.Once
your doula is with you she will stay with you during
the entire labour, birth, and for about 2 hours postpartum. Your Doula will
only leave after you are settled in and breastfeeding has been attempted.
After your birth:
We are available by the phone to answer questions about the birth or your
baby as well as any possible breastfeeding concerns that may arise. We usually
like to come back within the first 48 hours after your baby is born.
Postpartum visit:
We like to get together with you
within one to two weeks after that to see how you are doing and to review your
birth. The best part for us is to admire your new baby, and see how you felt
about your birthing experience.During this visit we
will discuss postpartum healing, infant care, and breastfeeding.
Do we provide a back up Doula?
Yes working in a team as we do provides you with the most support possible.
This assures you that there is always someone who you trust to be at your
birth. Illness or unexpected things sometimes arise in life and this is why we
work as a team.
Cost
The cost for all our services listed here is $800.

"Hanne came highly recommended.
We had a difficult birth with Oliver and I don't think we could
have done it without her. She worked closely with our Midwife,
to ease the process,
assisting us with information, massage,
reiki, homeopathy and herbal remedies, and helping Cindy find the strength
to do the most difficult thing she has ever done in her life. She's even
quite an adept photographer. She took pictures during delivery that we
never would have gotten otherwise. We'll treasure them forever.
What's most important, though, is that Hanne has a palpable joy emanating
from her. She loves what she does."
